Just got back from attending the special advance private screening of Rushmore and let me tell you, this is one movie you will not want to miss. Not to be upstaged by Robin Williams' latest Patch Adams in which he plays both a serious role and funny role all the the same character, Bill Murray really comes up big in Rushmore playing the manic depressive Mr. Blume. Rushmore has some incredible moments (one of which when Max gets expelled for trying to build an aquarium on the school's baseball diamond). I won't give anymore away until the film's release in which I would love to openly discuss Bill's amazing performance in this film (look for a scene reminiscent of Ghostbusters II where Murray dons a pair of dark shades). Look for Rushmore in theaters Friday, February 5th. Also, I thought this of interest. In the press kit that was distributed before the film, a quick little blurb has Bill Murray quoting this:

"It reminds me of the first movies I did, when people could relax, and they weren't so nervous about everything."

Come on Bill... hows-about returning to those first movies you made? "Show your love Big Murray!" ;)

More DVD news to come tomorrow including the ever popular question "why the h*** does the date keep changing?" and "Who do these Laserviews guys think they are anyway?" In the meantime, I'm in the process of buying a new car (Drew dude, finally!) which is really burning me out. The Netmeister sleep now. :)

SECOND UPDATE- Tuesday, January 26, 1999

You heard it here at Ghostbusters HQ, we now have confirmation that Ghostbusters AND Ghostbusters II will be released on DVD on March 9th. Laserviews, a division of Image Entertainment has announced the release date, and, needless to say, Ghostheads everywhere are overjoyed. Among other releases on March 9th, Coming to America, and the Die Hard trilogy. As the late Chris Farley would say, "AWEEESOME!" You can bet that yours truely will be first in line when the doors open on the 9th to make some serious DVD investments.

Nope, I didn't throw in the towel. It's like in Rocky III when Mr. T kills Mickey. I just got mad and came back strong as ever. Anyhow, I'm really diggin' the new server thanks to Neil Vitale and his Forgotten Ghostbuster webpage. This is one server that you jut can't complain about... period. Anyhow, Yahoo has added GBHQ's new address to the listing, so if you forget the new address fast.to/ghostbustershq then you can look me up there. On with the news:

Ghostbusters HQ will have the privalage to attend a private screening of Bill Murray's new flick, Rushmore. If this movie is half as good as it looks in the trailer, I'm in for a treat. A full report will be here tomorrow. On the same note, Bill Murray's calendar is "open for projects" according to his agency... (wink, wink) Honestly, if Sony's pre-production crew could get on the ball and start dishing out contracts it would really make my day.

The Netster had a chance to go one on one with the infamous Alita Holly who seems to have time to do interviews with Castewar, posts on Bill Message Board... and the time to casually brush me off via e-mail. I'll try to get some of your dying questions answered elsewhere Ghostheads... sorry. :(

Guess what dissapeared from all release calendars Ghostheads? The video release of Extreme Ghostbusters, that's what. It seems that we won't be seeing this until Summer. Yikes.

Some DVD news, it seems that a few reliable DVD websites on the 'net are stating that the Ghostbusters DVDs (yes, that's plural... GBI and GBII) might be ready for a March release as opposed to a June release. I for one can't wait, I'm getting sick of demoing our home theater equipment at work with the Austin Powers DVD.

REMINDER: If you are a Ghostbusters webmaster and have Ghostbusters HQ linked on your website, you NEED to change the link to http://fast.to/ghosbustershq RIGHT NOW- if not, it's lookin' pretty bad on both our parts as a broken link. Come on, update, it's fun!

Monday, January 25, 1999

Friday night at about ten o'clock, I hopped online to check the e-mail, just to see if anything interesting had come in. To my surprise, there were many letters, all asking me where my webpage went. I was like "Um, well... it's where it's been for the last six months, that's where it is." Anyhow, bon.net dropped ALL of their Free Webpage customers which caused me to have to scramble. Luckily my good buddy Neil Vitale and his ghostbusters.interspeed.net website offered to take shelter of Ghostbusters HQ and allow me to continue business as usual. Anyhow, for those of you lucky enough to find me, please get the word out of the new address http://fast.to/ghostbustershq. Please let every webmaster or every bookmark that you have with the old address on it, be made aware of the new address!

If you missed on Friday (and considering that the page was GONE, you probably did), take a look at the People Magize photos and other TV Guide photos in the Ghostbusters Seen and Heard Area.

Also, there was some news on David Spade's involvement in Ghostbusters 3 posted in the news section on Friday, scroll down to see that news :)

Anyhow, I'm exhausted. Anyone who stays up until four in the morning uploading his entire webpage again for the Ghostheads deserves a metal... I'd just settle for some sleep, so more to come tomorrow!

Hop on over to the Ghostbusters Seen and Heard area for the articles from TV Guide online NOW! The picture of Tara Charendoff is available on the Ghostbusters Seen and Heard site as well. Check 'em out!

Some more on the David Spade Ghostbusters 3 news. The part which was mentioned for David Spade will only be a quick few scenes, much like the late Chris Farley's scenes in Wayne's World. Short role, but memorable. And you can quote GBHQ on that. Now if we could just light a fire under Sony Columbia Picture's arses to start announcing contracts being offered/signed/rejected (hint, hint).

Here's some interesting news for everyone- it seems that the Bohbot Kids Network (hereon referred to as the BKN) has been making some purchases in animation studio development, but still has swept Extreme Ghostbusters under the carpet. Those who have been hopeful for a second season of the show, don't hold your breath. Extreme Ghostbusters in the words of Louis Tully, "Was a one shot deal."

A representative of Activision has informed me that they still hold rights to the Ghostbusters franchise should another movie be made. The "representative" states that although no games are in production, he wouldn't be surprised if as soon as the movie is announced, the game begins the long journey to the gaming world. He expects that if a game were to be made it would be available to Playstation, Macintosh, Windows, and possibly N64 customers (though N64 doesn't make sense as Activision hasn't really been producing games for the N64 console).

Finally, some non-Ghostbusters releated news to leave you with today, The Official Back to the Future fan club site is a pretty good read. Back to the Future is almost in the same situation that Ghostbusters fans are, we're anxiously waiting for another film (though the BTTF junkies DID get three films already. Kinda makes you jealous doesn't it?)

News was archived today, please make sure to check out the archives for the latest information. Not seeing the info you're looking for, please e-mail NetSolo! It's quick, it's easy, you don't need an e-mail account to send the mail... it's a PHD (Push Here Dummy) interface. So what are you waiting for? ;)

Ghostbusters (at least it's cast members) seem to be making the news on a daily basis now. The publicity is killing us, it's like teasing a dog with a steak to get it into the cage. Yet my anticipation for the new film grows. Ghostbusters HQ is fortuante enough to have connections which have alerted me to some cool stuff, so without further ado:

Tara Charendoff (Extreme Ghostbusters) makes an appearance in the latest issue of People Magazine. People has been gracious enough to lend us the photo but has asked that it is revealed to the public tomorrow specifically. The issue should be hitting subscriber mailboxes today or tomorrow (if not over the weekend) and will hit newstands later this week. Check out page 20 for the image, or stay tuned to Ghostbusters HQ tomorrow for the image as well :)

Also in the Ghostbusters Seen and Heard department, Ghostbusters cast members were mentioned in the new issue of TV Guide (50 Funiest Moments of All Time on TV) not once, not twice, but three times (Dan Aykroyd mentioned twice and Rick Moranis mentioned once). The full articles again, will be available to Ghostbusters HQ visitors tomorrow! See you then!

Hope that everyone had a groovy weekend, I know that I sure did! Anyhow, there's a lot to talk about so I'll get right into it... not before rubbing in that my Denver Broncos are headed to another Super Bowl. Go John- May the Schwartz Be With You...

Be sure to vote for Ghostbusters HQ as the Top 10 Movie Entertainment site at Pointguide. All that you need to do is click here (and thanks be to whoever nominated me for this award!)

There's been a skirmish on Bill Emkow's Message Board over a message stating that Bill Murray has been screen testing with the lovely Andie McDowell for the role of his new wife for Ghostbusters 3. This information is totally false, however since it was mentioned my source has allowed me to reveal this information: David Spade has been approached for a role (not as Slimer as the Internet rumors spread stated) however as the sly businessman type that he played in Tommy Boy and Black Sheep. His role will not be major, but will provide some alternate comic relief from the usual suspects of the Ghostbusting gang. However, Mr. Spade nor Columbia TriStar (Sony) Pictures have committed to any deals. But yes, it is highly likely that we will be seeing David Spade, but NOT as the voice of Slimer. And once again, according to Will Smith's agency he is "booked up indefinitely for the year 1999," thus leaving no room on the calendar for a film the size and scope of Ghostbusters.

Official Ghostbusters website news; the "Official Ghostbusters Website" coming to www.ghostbusters.com (though still registered through InterNIC to it's original owner) will be created by the same webdudes that brought us the Extreme Ghostbusters page. Okay, so, it's not really stop the presses news, but at least it's SOMETHING about the new webpage.

GreenGoo! is about to get a new banner thanks to a crazed Ghostbusters HQ fan. Look for details and the graphic to add to your site in the next couple days.
