| SECOND UPDATE- Friday, January 15, 1999 |
Well, I don't want to leave town on a bad note, so I thought that I better comment on this, it's come to my attention that this was posted on the Ghostbusters Vortex site two days ago:
Well, it seems every update now over at Ghostbusters HQ, there is something bashing my Ghostbusters 3 news. Well, lets just say he doesn't have my inside source. And obviously, the people get the information from my site, and then seem to email GBHQ, asking if its true or not. Please stop this, it seems that I always get the worst end of it. Not to mention the fact that GBHQ knows just as little, as eveyone else.
Greg, who is a fine webmaster and has a great website, don't get me wrong. But I want to get one thing straight, what I'm doing is not "bashing," there is no malace intended (to quote Louis Tully) however I do believe in Socrates most famous quote, "Quesiton everything," and to me, Greg's source, whomever he or she might be has very questionable information. First of all, a final draft of the script has just been submitted- therefore filming and casting decisions have yet to have been made. The information of stars of the like of Dennis Miller and Bob Newhart arriving in New York with crates with the Ghostbusters logo on them is once again... questionable. Take the following information into consideration, the New York City Film Permit office (who supervises and provides help to film crews when shooting on location) has commented that there is currently no "Ghostbusters filming" in New York. Columbia has already blocked a period of time which at the moment is confidential to prevent mobs of people (though the GB crew loves mobs of people to use as extras) gathering at the locations on days when crews are trying to complete work.
Yes Greg, Ghostbusters HQ does have it's sources, and I question the information as much as possible, which is why some to most of the crap that I've heard from "sources" has never appeared on this site. For example, I received e-mail from someone claiming to be head of marketing at Sony (I know this not to be true, I know Sony Corporate personally) and he stated that action figures with the liknesses of the main characters as well as Gillian Anderson and, get this, Hulk Hogan were in the works. My God, there is no possible way that this is true (first of all because licensing rights have not been sold to a toy compnay) and secondly because... well, Hulk Hogan?!? Two words: Suburban Commando. Good-bye film career, hello politics.
Mud slinging sucks... right now- I'm putting an official end to it. Greg's information will no longer be "shot down" on this page. But I warn everyone including Greg, the Internet is burdened with misinformation... read at your own risk.
Stepping off the soapbox, here's the news:
| Friday, January 15, 1999 |
Just to forewarn all of you, I'm headed to Vail for the long weekend and won't be back until Monday afternoon at the earliest (dude, the snow bekons the Netmeister, must ski!). Anyhow, here's some stuff for you to ponder in my absence, and I encourage you to check out the archives which continue to grow and grow! :)
Peter M. Brake's ultra-cool DVD File website is reporting that the isolated score by Elmer Bernstein WILL NOT be appearing on the DVD special edition release as earlier mentioned by Columbia Tri-Star. Turns out that there were some legal troubles which wouldn't allow them to isolate a score track. Bummer. Good news is that we're on for a June release date for the disc!
MacOS users rejoice, the desktop theme/soundset for Macintosh OS8.x will be ready soon. Thanks to my main man out there helping me out with the desktop pattern and all of you who have submitted sounds. If you have sounds that you wish to submit, please send 'em along to help speed up the project. No electric shocks, promise. Also, the movement of Egon's Workshop fully into GBHQ is coming along nicely. I hope to open it at the same time as the Online Store on January 28th.

You know, I'm incredibly depressed by lack of loyalty to projects on Columbia Tri-Star's part. You may have noticed that their home video site has posted it's top 200 list of archived titles for sale or rent. While the list includes prestigious titles like 3 Ninjas Kick Back (gag me) it doesn't even mention it's old heavyweight box-office leader Ghostbusters. It's been one thing that they've pretty much kept us in the dark about the DVD release of Ghostbusters, but then not even acknowledging it as one of their top sellers? It brings me to the brink of being sick.
In other news, a representative of the Internet Movie Database has finally contacted me again concerning the dissapearing/reappearing Ghostbusters III site. He states, "The project is still in conceptualization phases, and our information was out of date not to mention inaccurate. The IMDb prides itself on content, and when the content is incorrect, we flinch."
Your help is needed on two Ghostbusters HQ projects Ghostheads. First of all, please continue sending in those Fifteenth Annviersary stories and pictures- they're really helping fill out the only fan based celbration page on the 'net. Secondly, GBHQ needs your help with sounds for the new Desktop Theme sets. Still needed are sounds of : a short proton pack blast, a giga meter sound, the Ecto-1 siren, and finally a sound of the ghost trap closing. If you can help out, please send the files in .wav or Macintosh sound format to netsolo@aol.com. Thanks!
And finally today... broken links to the NOW Comics (not to mention some long needed cleaning in the NOW Comics area) as well as the articles in the Fifteenth Anniversary site have been fixed. Sorry for the problems there Ghostheads. It's those Gremlins again, I swear... the little critters are everywhere, especially in Windows 98.

You caught me. Egon's Workshop has been removed from the navigation bar because, starting this month, it will become an integrated part of Ghostbusters HQ. I've been speaking with Paul Rudoff who co-created the site with me, and we both agree that it's not getting enough attention. By making Egon's Workshop features available right on Ghostbusters HQ, it helps me more readily update as well as organize the data. All of EW's features WILL be back- in some form :)
Okay, here's the scoop. Ghostbusters 3 is supposedly mentioned on 1999 preview press kits for Sony/Columbia Pictures to newspaper reporters etc. Working for our local paper, I have yet to receive a preview kit from Sony, but as soon as I get mine you'll be the first to know ghostheads! Not sure what a press kit is? It's basically a folder which has black and white images as well as cast/crew listings for movies which periodicals use for reference. Quite cool, you can sometimes even buy them on ebay (not the GB3 ones yet, of course).
More cool news to come in the morning, in the meantime news has once agian been archived. Check out the archives below.

My source sums it up nicely when he/she said, "Oh Lord, please make them stop." This in reaction to me letting him know of some of the casting rumors for Ghostbusters 3 that have been flying around the internet (ie. Chevy Chase as the President, Julia Louis-Dryfuss as Peter's wife). "They have no truth to them. Chevy was actually a frequent drop in to the set of GB1 just because he's a good friend. I'm not sure he'd be interested." Also, Julia Louis-Dryfuss has been mentioned for a role but once again "sources" point out that what good is a free-spirited Pete Venkman if he's married. "Commitment isn't in his vocabulary. Though perhaps being a father to Oscar may... pursuade him." Let us make this perfectly clear. The script has now been finalized, and pre-production is planned but hasn't begun. Casting rumors are just that... rumors and have no truth behind them what-so-ever. Don't let anyone let you think otherwise.
Catch the American Music Awards last night? The lovely Tara Charendoff did, in person. Though I didn't see her on the tube, her sis informs me that she was in attendance. Pictures and or any other media of the awards with Tara there would be appreciated. :)
A special nod goes to Yahoo, who finally added Ghostbusters Headquarters back onto their search engine. I thought that maybe their soaring stock went to their heads and they decided to can we, the little people of GBHQ ;)
