SECOND UPDATE- Tuesday, February 9, 1999

Well, the Oscar nominations are in and guess what... Bill Murray and his film Rushmore have been shafted once again. Perhaps we'll see a non-major award given, but the nominations on television this morning as well as on the official website don't even mention Rushmore (save for the "elligable films" category).

Yes, the rumors that you are hearing are correct, Amazon.com is offering the Extreme Ghostbusters videos on their website, but note that they won't be shipping for at least another month. The Ghostbusters HQ Online Store will ALSO be offering the videos, more details will be available with the store's launch sometime in the next week or so. Speaking of shipping, whod've thunk it, my Star Wars Episode One poster arrived today. Cool beans eh?

Well folks, the Netmeister is in love again- sorry ladies, but Dr. Venkman is now taken again (sort of, pending that I work out some complications, namely that she already has a boyfriend). But knowing me, it won't last. So don't be surprised if I thrown in a couple comments every now and then about the relationship- GBHQ, Dr. Ruth style.

An interesting e-mail came to me while I was away for the weekend from Fanlox Web Design, who, if it wasn't a hoax, will be designing the official Ghostbusters website. It was your basic "We like your website, but we're ready to kick your azz with the official site" e-mail, but what struck me as cool was that they will link to fan pages as well as give Ghostheads e-mail addresses ending in ghostbusters.com or gb.com. Maybe I should start a web design company and earn some money to get me through film school, we'll see. What interests me is that their crew (Fanlox's) looks like they're right out of high school. Reminds me of someone doesn't it? ;)

We'll know today who's going to be heading to the Oscars as nominees, Ghostbusters HQ will keep you updated this afternoon as to just how many (grin) Oscars Bill Murray is nominated for his incredible performance in Rushmore, and the Netmeister's predictions for the latest Academy Award Show.

Ghostbusters 3 hopefuls, here's a little information for you from the Ghostbusters HQ source department: remember the first treatment of the script mentioned with Hell being the background, and being able to flip the switch between dimensions? If not, click here, but here's something interesting, there are actually three treatments to the script so far which actually have different plot involvements depending on actor/normal Ghostbuster character involvement (ie. if Bill Murray doesn't sign for the third film, a script treatment has been written to describe events leading to his absence). You will recall that several treatments were written for the first film, the first being a comedic team-up for Aykroyd and Belushi when John was still alive.

Ghostbusters DVD info: as obscure and small as it might seem, Ghostbusters HQ has learned that the isolated commentary tracks included on the disc will actually be a "group effort" reuniting cast members on the same audio track. Sounds like a plan to us! Now I just beg of my fellow Sony-ites, please, please, please... 16x9 enhanced transfer. It might be too late but PLEASE! Don't make me beg, it's not a pretty sight.

So, I head out of town for the weekend, and it never fails. Something happens to the webpage and it's down the entire time! Sorry for that, I think that I've fized most to all of the "Document Contains No Data" errors, if not, drop me a line.

After spread word of Harold Ramis' departure from Galaxy Quest, Harry Knowles' Aint-it-cool-news message board for the news has filled with, what else but Ghostbusters 3 priase/disrespecting. Check it out, some of the people's complaints about our favorite films are pretty good for a laugh. Just picture 'em sitting at their computer wearing boxer shorts only and having nothing better to do (or the knowledge to do) than rip on films which they've probably only seen on TV. Sheesh.

Make sure you check out the weekend's news- good stuff there which NOBODY saw because the page wasn't here- D'OH!

I like the "scoop" that I got from a Ghostbusters HQ reader today. He states that "Danny Elfman wouldn't touch a Ghostbusters project with a ten foot pole." I replied with this: "Two words: Oingo Boingo... Ghostbusters II soundtrack, 'nuff said." Ain't I a stinker? Plus, it sounds more and more like Elmer Bernstein is ready and willin' to return to the composer's desk for the score. Sorry Danny...

For those of you with pocket organizers and oher calendars, here's a quick break down of dates (or at least months) that you need to mark down as being reserved for Ghostbusters:

May- Wait, might as well block the whole month Star Wars...

June- Release of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II on DVD

June-July- Summer re-release of remastered Ghostbusters in theaters

December/January (2000) - *Rumored* First Trailer for GB3 to premiere

Summer 2000 - Ghostbusters 3 released

Feeling a little down after reading all the people bashing Ghostbusters 3 on Bill Emkow's Message Board? Take a look at the comments I posted in yesterday's update and keep your head high! Also, it seems that in every update, I've forgotten to add the link to Slime Square on GreenGoo! - hey dude, slime, er, smile- you're on the front page of Ghostbusters HQ AND you've been re-added to GreenGoo! Sorry! :)

Harold Ramis has pulled out of the project which he commited to according to Aint-it-cool-news stating that he needs a break before his next project. Okay my main man, take your break then focus on more important things (subliminal message... GB3)

I'm sorry for the update spasm... for obvious reasons I haven't been able to update. I'm actually going to be gone until Sunday afternoon so please check out all the cool features on the website in the meantime! Lates!

Ghostheads, share your memories with other true Ghostbusters fans and help celebrate the 15th Anniversary of everyone's favorite film, Titanic... er, Ghostbusters (sorry, it's the girls and the painkillers getting to me man). You'll excuse me, I have a date on the poop deck with Kate Winslet.

Thanks to a fanatic visitor, we've got a pretty cool photo from the Ghostbusters as they now preside in the Universal Studios backlot after being evicted from their Spooktacular show lot. He promises to bring more video, pictures, etc. to help out to keep up with the Ghostbusters and their reign of stardom at Universal. Check out the GB Spooktacular Area for that picture. Also, check out GreenGoo! for a graphic to link your site back to GreenGoo! and proudly display your affiliation with GBHQ on your website!

Well, even the infamous NetSolo is human after all, I was in a car accident on Wednesday afternoon and... shall we say, incapacitated to update the webpage since then. Please understand that though I was thinking of you fellow Ghostheads after the accident, rehabilitation is the first goal on my mind. Ghostbusters HQ WILL continue to be updated daily, just pardon me for those last few days. However, I have lots of news to report. Some good, some wierd, some bad. So here it goes:

Needless to say, the accident has set me back a few days and I'm hoping to open the online store in conjunction with Reel.com as soon as possible. I've been told by Reel.com that they would have a specialist help me with the store, I'm hoping that they can help me a little more than I expect.

The talk of the town is the recent article posted to Cinescape. In case you haven't read it (and judging from all the e-mails that I got about it most of you already saw it) it's an interview with Harold Ramis which "debunks" all knowledge of Ghostbusters 3 dismissing the movie as "Dan Akyroyd's Hobby." Though I'm not normally one to question Cinescape's credibility, I do as I've said before, "Question Everything." I really would just like to dismiss this article as rubbish, but it does bring up some valid points, and contridict everything that Dan Aykroyd himself has stated (especially the fact that he states he and Ramis have been working on a script to present to Sony at the end of last year per the Yahoo chat... unless Danny was abducted by aliens, or even coneheads and they replaced him with an evil Dan Akyroyd from Remula'ak here to destroy his career. Oh wait, now I'm REALLY sounding like Cinescape). Here's the deal. The film is listed as in "pre-production." This we do know. And per the Newsweek article (see the Ghostbusters 3 area for the full article) Sony is willing to shell out the big bucks in order to breathe life into it's franchise pictures. Have faith children of Ghostbusters, the project is not "just a hobby," but a reality. This you will have to take my word on.

Following that story up, there's another thing that I would like to clairify. Seems that I did jump the gun on the DVD release date (you know, NetSolo has been known to make mistakes, from time to time). Though Laserviews and The Digital Bits are reporting that Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will be released on March 9th, they will in fact, be released in June. Peter M. Bracke of The DVD File (whom I should have trusted first for the info in the first place) had this to say in an e-mail to me:

As for Ghostbusters, alas, it will not be out March 9th. I posted on this a while back, but it was over the weekend so most people didn't read it. Anyway, Ghostbusters was always scheduled for June. I don't know how the date got out. I talked directly to the DVD project supervisor over at Columbia, and the extras won't even be done until February. : ( Peter M. Bracke http://www.dvdfile.com)

Okay, slap me on the wrists and call it even. Maybe if a certain Alita Holly would have answered my questions, I wouldn't have jumped the gun. :(

Some asthetic work has been done to Ghostbusters HQ once again, trust me I've had a lot of time in bed on my hands to be doing stuff on my laptop, then transfer to the poppa daddy iMac. Including a new entry graphic by LotsofAs@aol.com. It's a nice change from the lens flare graphic that I went crazy on for the old server. Also, it seems that bon.net will be adding a link through from the old bon.net/gbhq address to this page. If you've come here from there, please let me know. Hey, don't be shy, the Netmeister loves e-mail- if you've got something picking your brain, don't be afraid to click that e-mail button.
