 Multimedia Update...Technical Difficulties

I'm having a bit of trouble with my VCR (namely, it's not a Sony), I'm trying to work the kniks out and get the media online as soon as possible. Sorry :)

 And that's a fact, Jack...

So, Bill Murray just made his triumphant return to Saturday Night Live, of the memorable moments, Bill, sitting at the Weekend Update desk with his Oscar picks- and well, let's just say he wasn't fond of the Best Supporting Actor Category. What? You didn't see it?!? Check back here at 10am Mountain Standard Time for all the Bill SNL multimedia that you can shake a stick at, right here on Ghostbusters HQ. In the meantime, I'm going to finish THIS update and get some sleep. :)

 The Big Conference

I was informed at work today that there will be a SONY Product Line conference within the next few days in which some of the new products will be shown off- though I doubt it, there might be sneak peaks at future DVD titles from Columbia Tri-Star. But I highly doubt it. I'll be sure to keep you posted on what I find out.

Moron, er, more on the re-release of GBI

Okay, all these "scoops" that keep coming from Ghostbusters HQ readers about the Ghostbusters re-release having digitally enhanced special effects have to stop. Remastered means that the original print and soundtrack are restored to "90's standards" in order to help preserve the movie (and make a few bucks on the side). There will NOT be a surprise digital visit from Forrest Gump in the Ghostbusters re-release (i'm joking, of course- but hey, they had him shaking JFK's hand, who says he can't get slimed?) ;)

Ghostbusters.com: a hiccup in the system

I can't tell you how many e-mails that I received today from readers feeling betrayed, angered, (insert your own adjective here) that the Ghostbusters.com domain was bringing back a server not responding error. Guys, it's a webpage, just like many other webpages it lies on a computer- things go wrong (knock on wood). It's not "the man" trying to bring you down, the server was just under service. :)

 Information on the re-release

Just to clairify some frequently asked questions, YES Ghostbusters will be re-released in the movie theaters, and YES it will be remasterd (most likely the remastered print used for the DVD). NO it will not include new footage like the Star Wars Special Editions, and NO there won't be a digital Jabba the Hutt inserted in. Oh wait. The re-release should be storming across theaters this summer.

 One bad *** Ghostbuster...

From the rumor mill, Samuel L Jackson, who is in talks to star in the remake of Shaft (re: Dark Horizons) actually has been mentioned to have been offered a brief appearance in a future Dan Aykroyd movie, which one- well, the source didn't say (but this IS one of my more reliable sources). But hell, let's just assume that it's Ghosbusters 3 so that we can all get working on our Samuel L Jackson Ghostbuster action figures. I'll have more on this scoop as it's made available, though I wouldn't take it too seriously. Yet. It could be as big as Mark Curry's role in Armageddon ("You wanna go shopping? Me too! But we in a traffic jam.")

 Oops...

Just to clairify a few things about the post yesterday about GB2 airing on the Wonderful World of Disney and this being it's first airing. Yes, indeed GB2 was shown back in 1991, however it was a limited showing (limited to the ABC Monday Night Movie in some areas) and would not be as broad of a showing like it would be if Disney threw it into it's prime family entertainment time slot.

Also, on another note of correction, the DVD post from two days ago spoke of a "fake" Alita Holly- I was referring to the hoax post on Bill's Message Board (which I've just stopped visiting, it's filled with a motley crew of GB fans who some of which scare me... ha!

Leo- went down with the Titanic, not with the GBs

Alright, to all my teenage readers out there (especially that of the female persuasion) STOP SPREADING the rumor that Leonardo DiCaprio is going to be in Ghostbusters 3. It's just not true, and if it was, well then- Dan and I would have to have a little chat. So, just to set the record straight. No Leo for GB3. Period. End of story. Should I tell you how the movie Titanic ends too? :)

 Little known fact about Ghostbusters

Okay, so news today is coming up pretty short (even us Boys in Grey have off days), but here's a little something that will help you sleep better at night. Remember the hideous growl that the Terror Dogs sent all of the kiddies screaming to their mommies with? T'was a belch. A flagilation of the mouth origin- slowed down to sound like a possesed dog. So next time after you watch Ghostbusters and have to sleep with the lights on, just thing of the burping Terror Dog, and all your worries will be put to ease.

 Tinky Winky, the Gay Tellytubby

Hey, everyone's talking about it. Why shouldn't I? ;) Ah, humor- it's what this page has lacked for so long!

 Ghostbusters 3, sorta...

Who's tougher than David Sadler, Brandon Crisp, and Rob Cleaton? Well, imagine this, Venkman and Spengler sitting outside the firehouse after a long day of chasing the spooks (smoking a little, drinking a little, to my younger viewers, don't try this at home). When all of a sudden some punk starts giving 'em a hard time. That's the premise for Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good, a short film that will absolutely leave you laughing so hard you'll pee your pants. Check it out!

Ghostbusters 2 to air on network TV?

Many of my readers are always quick to point out that Ghostbusters II has never been shown on broadcast television. And they are correct. However, it appears that ABC might have rights to the showing of Ghostbusters II next year- perhaps as part of their Wonderful World of Disney weekend movie. Details right now are sketchy, but tune to GBHQ for the latest.

 Site News

The Ghostbusters Headquarters Online Store will be opening this week. Keep checking back each day for updates. If you'd like to see what will be available in the store, take a look at the Site Map. Also, news has been archived. Take a look at the archives for past news briefs, er... boxers, whichever you prefer.

Why is the DVD more secretive than NASA blueprints?

I've really been trying to figure out the advantage that Columbia Tri-Star Home Video is trying to play with the secrecy that surrounds the release of Ghostbusters on DVD. Though it's had some breakthrough moments (ie. someone claiming to be Alita Holly informing people on the web) the entire project has been wrapped up in a dark cloud of red tape. I would really just like to know some details on this disc in order to help promote it's arrival- I think if the public knew more about it, it would be more successful as opposed to just being a big "surprise" in June. What do you think?

Pumpkins and GB3... no, never gonna happen.

It's been the wierdest thing. I hadn't even thought about it until GBHQ received several e-mails from viewers asking if Samhain will be involved with Ghostbusters 3. The answer is no. At least, he hasn't been mentioned. Keep in mind that Dan Aykroyd has publically stated on many occasions that he doesn't allow the comics, shows, etc. to influence how he steers the Ghostbusters film franchise (though in Ghostbusters II, he did make Slimer the Boys in Grey's pet). However, Samhain is not a character that was the brainchild of Aykroyd or Ramis, so I wouldn't even make it a possibility that he will be in the new film.

SONY speaks out on Ghostbusters 3

On the same note, GBHQ has learned that Ghostbusters 3 is now top priority on Sony Picture's list to compete in blockbuster films this year. "A strong fan backing and a recent climb in popularity of 80s pop-culture shows us that reviving the Ghostbusters film franchise would be to our benefit. I would imagine that you should be hearing more and more about the film as the quarter progesses," said a source which would like to remain annoynmous for obvious reasons. The source also stated his concern with the fabrication of "sources and information" on the Internet, "It's interesting, I've seen names mentioned as sources on many websites and news articles, but there's nobody here to match a face to a name. I don't know, maybe their employed in the mail room." I have to say that I totally agree with him. There are many people that concoct their own "sources" in order to gain attention which only leads to chaos and misunderstanding. But the 'net is such a wonderful place. Who'd have thought that there would be this much buzz about a third Ghostbusters movie? ;)

 A Day in the Life

There would be much more to today's update (including the opening of the online store), but I'm waiting until tomorrow for the possibility of such matters being that many people have the day off (myself included) and will be more prone to surfing the 'net tomorrow. I don't want the store to open and nobody to know about it ;)
