 TOP STORY- HEEEEE'S BAAAAACK! :)

Well, you know a little fun in the sun never hurt anyone- but man, it's killin' my face. SPF30? Shyeah, right! Anyhoo, thanks be to Neil Vitale a.k.a. The Forgotten Ghostbuster for takin' over for me while I was gone. He's back, he's buff, and his face is more sunburned than the Taco Bell Chiwawa after a nuclear blast.

Aykroyd surfaces, talks GB wit da ET

Ghostbusters HQ certainly has it's minions- GBHQ blood does run deep for while I was gone, I had the pleasure of hearing from my main man Big P, a cameraman for Entertainment Tonight. Anyhoo, it seems that while he was covering the premiere of forces of Nature he asked Marilyn, the gal on the spot, to ask about news on Ghostbusters 3. Aykroyd answered, "You'll know by the end of the week." I received my e-mail from the ETmeister on the 14th... here's hoping that it's good news. And when it is- GBHQ will break it, er fix it... Also, Big P mentions to check out some of the picts he took on ET Online, he says Dan has lost a little bit of his gut! :)

 More GB3 press coverage

DarkDeath57 points out that in the March 26, 1999 issue of Entertainment Weekly, there is a quote stating that "Sony is preparing Stuart Little, a men In Black sequel, and even a revival of Ghostbusters." I'm looking into the full article right... now. :)

B1 beats B2 Five to Zip

Hey, we finally won... I've got to brag to someone.

TOP STORY- Ghostbusters Breaks Another Record!

Peter Brake, my main man over at dvdfile.com has some great news. Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II are about to break the pricing barrier for two movies, for the price of one. One disc. No more hefty prices of $59.99 for the Die Hard Trilogy. BOTH Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will be $29.95. As NOW Comics used to say, "Cheap!" Here's Peter:

"Special editions of The Last Picture Show, Pink Floyd The Wall, Silverado, Funny Girl , Ghostbusters I and II (and both will be $24.95 MAP, roughly $29.95 full price) as well as various levels of extras for The Blue Lagoon, Shampoo, 7th Voyage Of Sinbad, Red Rock West, Immortal Beloved, Born Yesterday, Against All Odds, Heavy (1995), Heavy Metal, John Carpenter's Christine, Birdy, Anatomy Of A Murder, Guns Of Navarone, Never Talk to Strangers, the camp fest Eyes Of Laura Mars and tentative late-Fall releases for special editions of Tootsie and The Natural . And there is plenty more coming, and I will try to get as many details on more as I can. Way to go Columbia!"

Disney gets it's ears on straight

Realizing the demand for Ghostbusters at this current point in time, Disney has added Ray Parker Jr.'s Ghostbusters to it's latest CD, "Radio Disney Kid Jams." Joining songs which have been recorded as "the most requested songs on the station, ever." The song appears on track 12. A word of warning to all my fellow ghostheads- purchasing the CD also gets you two tracks from Hanson, and the Backstreet Boys. (Note to self, destroy tracks two and four).

 Hey Egon, how's the weather?

Thanks to Adam P B, Ghostbusters HQ has learned that weatherman Al Roker is a fellow "celebrity ghosthead." On the March 11th Today Show, he was telling about how dismal and disgusting and dangerous the weather was going to be, he described it as "Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!" He paused, then added, "Ghostbusters, 1984." Dude, Al- keep up the good work, and you were right, it's been snowing ever since.

I told you it looked like Gizmo!

On an 80's note- it seems that yesterday something was mentioned on Regis and Kathie Lee that a new Fubry in the likeness and voice of Gizmo, from Gremlins is going to be released here shortly. Being that I have absolutely no desire to watch their show, I missed it- did anyone catch what was said? I want a pet MOGWAI! :)

 Eat this Phantom Somethingorother trailer!

Well, everyone is downloading a special something from Starwars.com- not to be upstaged, GBHQ presents an all-new Ghostbusters Win95 theme from Viper ASD. It is available here as well in the media libraries. Happy downloading!

 Mace Windu- Grade A ***woopin'

Rather than try to compete with bandwidth for the storm otherwise known as the new Star Wars: The Phantom Menace trailer, I think I'll just add in a link, sit back, and enjoy Star Wars taking the spotlight again. Oh, and to all my Apple skeptics out there, one note- the trailer is only available in QuickTime... period. Might want to check and make sure that you're computer's got what matters; Apple Components. Lucasfilm and Apple team up- Bill Gate's better get ready to receive a swift kick in the pants from Mace Windu himself.

 The Ellusive Playstation GB Game

More information on the illusive re-teaming of Activision and Ghostbusters. It appears that the drawing board has once again been summoned, perhaps to create a new Ghostbusters game for the Playstation 2, available Q4 of 1999 or early 2000. Hmm... possibly in time for a new GB movie? I wonder... (Star Wars) $#@! how'd it make it into this news report!!!???!???

 Ghostbusters Xenophobia

My main man in Europe "Bigg Boss" makes a good point, in the official press release, it mentions a nationwide release- but not international. Doesn't sound like our friends overseas will be seeing the re-release in theaters anytime soon. I'll see what I can dig up for my foreign Ghostheads... er Heads de Ghost (yes, I'm learning, quite slowly, ask my German teacher from a few years back) out there overseas.

EGB Videos to have re-release preview on them?

A curious scoop sent in by a production agency claims that the same original theatrical trailer that appeared on Who Am I? will also be run on the copies of Extreme Ghostbusters (going on sale this week). Though this comes from a new source, it's a highly plausible theory, but I'm not sure that it will ring true. Does anyone have any other information on this? Lemme know.. also, if you have sharks with frickin laserbeams attached to their heads, I'm in the market.

 Drew joins the PTN clan

I thought that I'd make Drew embarrased and possibly a little proud that he's now famous, he's about to join yours truely at the Star Wars Celebration this April in Denver, Colorado. Who's tougher than Drew?

 dailyscifi.com gets personal: big time.

In follow-up to their recent post about the new Ghostbusters movie, dailyscifi.com has posted letters that they received reguarding the new Ghostbusters film as well as the top ideas for new recruits. Thankfully, that kid from Dawson's Creek wasn't mentioned (though Katie Holmes... mmmm... sorry)- anyhow, take a look at both the positive and the negitive views on the new Ghostbusters film as well as fellow webmaster Castewar's quite humerous post and dailyscifi.com's rebuttal. It's gravilicious.

Moron, er more on Official Word

Another note from the big cheeses at SONY coming to ya direct from Ghostbusters HQ, this one from Manager of Publicity Jeff Kaplan:

"Columbia TriStar will be repromoting the film
GHOSTBUSTERS throughout the year of 1999.

Unfortunately, no dates have been announced and I am not at liberty to discuss
timing at this point. However, I can inform you that there will be a theatrical
re-release as well as a VHS and DVD release to follow.
"

Not at liberty to discuss timing eh? Me thinks it has something to do with some big movie, The Phantom Something or other. Maybe you've heard of it? (grin)

 Clairification on Official Word

Okay, I've been taking heat because astute readers noticed that the official press release mentions it being the 20th Anniversary. Here's the deal, it's a typo in the release. Yes, I know, I know, it's only the 15th anniversary... so you all question the source. I have been told that it is alright to reveal his name. There's no need to question my source, the source is none other than Adam Lewinson, Manager of Advertising and Promotions at Columbia Tri-Star Home Video. Wanna question him? Deal with it.

ZENtertainment mentions the GB's third flick

Well-known movie "scoopist" and respected e-zine ZENtertainment posted a reiteration of the scoop that Popcorn posted on their website earlier last week in the latest ZENtertainment issue. It seems that poor Mr. Ramis can't go anywhere to promote Analyze This (by the way, a funny flick) without Ghostbusters being mentioned somewhere along the way. Guess that he's getting the hint that Ghostbusters is still very much in demand.

GBHQ- the official word on the re-release central, baby

Well, my minions at SONY have done it- here now, Ghostbusters HQ is proud to present the OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE REGUARDING Ghostbusters and 1999. I especially enjoy the first sentence of the paragraph don't you?

Home Video Release

Cast:
Bill Murray
Dan Akroyd
Harold Ramis
Sigourney Weaver

1999 is the year the Ghostbusters are coming back! A
20th Anniversary version of Ghostbusters will be
released in movie theaters nationwide! This will be
followed by a re-release of Ghostbusters on home
video. Few films achieve a $238 million box office
gross, and the Ghostbusters franchise has continued
with a hit theatrical sequel, several animated series,
and several toy lines. Who 'ya gonna call for a '99
family promotion? The Ghostbusters!

Okay, so no dates, no nothing- but it's a start. More official information to come boys and ghouls!

Mini-Discs, Ghostbusters, and that thing in my fridge

A Mini-Disc release of the Ghostbusters soundtrack (rumored yesterday) has been confirmed by another Ghostbusters source as being a plan for later this year. Although, nobody has been able to shed light on why the soundtrack has switched hands. Oh, and that thing in my fridge, it's pretty newsworthy- it got up and walked away. I think it was a leftover from Thanksgiving... ewwe...

 Stanley Kubrick- remembered

It is with heavy heart and strong tears that I regret to inform fellow Ghostheads of the death of director Stanley Kubrick. The director of classic films such as Dr. Strangelove, 2001, Full Metal Jacket, and countless other films, died yesterday at the age of 70. He will be missed and remember as one of the greatest film directors of all time.

 Women

Always newsworthy, how come I just don't know how to deal with 'em?
