A Note From Mom
Well, if I were any sicker the last two days they would have to put me in one of those plastic bubbles and evacuate the town because man, I'm just completely run down. Anyhow, the news must go on right? Here goes it, just don't get too close and musn't touch... don't forget to wash your hands in case the germs spread.

Bill suffers from long term memory loss
Well, I hate to break the news to you, but I think that Bill Murray has lost his mind. Seriously. If all the reports and sources that keep coming up with Bill Murray quotes are all accurate, the man must have a terrible time trying to find what he did with his car keys. It seems like now-a-days, anyone with a Hollywood link that stumbles into Bill Murray asks him about Ghostbusters and then runs to someone on the Internet. the trouble is, all the quotes just seem to contradict each other more and more. Don't get me wrong, some of them are very credible, but some just worry me. Case in point the information added to Corona's "Development Hell" page. I especially like the last note. The man responsable for the Budwiser commercial happens to spot Bill Murray at the premiere of Rushmore. He quickly introduces himself as the "Budwieser Man" and then asks about Ghostbusters. If Bill really did say what Corona says he did to the man, he was probably being a smart-ass and in his own way saying "Hey, I'm here at the premiere of my new movie, and the subject is Ghostbusters... back off man, I'm famous."

All signals point to something big on the horizon
I've been informed that the Columbia Tri-Star Home Video website will be posting a press release conserning the re-release of Ghostbusters on DVD and VHS on their website sometime this week. Whether this will ring true or not, we shall see.

Ramis spills the beans to E!
Well, not really- but on E! News Weekly, Harold mentioned the new Ghostbusters project, basically he mentioned everything that we knew, or thought we knew about the project, I turn to Sam Seivers for the report:
Okay, this is stuff we mostly already know, but on this weekend's E! News Weekly (Or whatever it's called) (E! News Weekend- ed) they had a story about Harold Ramis working on a script for Ghostbusters III. The reporters said that Bill Murray says he's "too old" to suit up as a Ghostbuster another time. This doesn't seem true because of Bill's 'Footloose' performance on Saturday Night Live last week (see the media here at GBHQ, I'll shut up now - ed). They also said that the movie would have a younger cast. I hope this isn't true because we all love the original Ghostbusters, right? Although Extreme Ghostbusters was pretty good. I don't know if this is all accurate because a friend of mine saw it and told me. But it's something to let us know that this movie is well on its way.
If anyone happened to catch the E! News brief and was lucky enough to nab it on tape, please e-mail me so that we can get some downloadable media! :)

CORRECTION:In yesterday's update there were two errors made in the report concerning Jackie Chan and the Ghostbusters, the trailer for Ghostbusters actually airs on the Jackie Chan: Who Am I? video and is listed as Coming Soon to Home Video. Guess that teaches me to post something from Chris without looking at the details (just joking, we still love ya dude). Anyhow, on with the gnus:

Ghostbusters 2120, masterpiece in the making
So, I'm a little biast about Ghostbusters 2120, but I must say that the characters and situations are really shaping out nicely. Jay has (probably by the time this has gone to "print") uploaded some great images of the new crew as well as some new information about Jacob Marley, namely that he's bald. Check out his page for more info.

A Note on the Re-release
Okay, so at least CTHV is finally promoting the DVD release of Ghostbusters, so you ask yourself, "Self, what about the re-release?" More than likely we will be seeing it AFTER the release of the DVD and home video, so it's unlikely that there will be any sort of tie-in or promotion. When should we be seeing it? September would be my first guess, but we all know Columbia- who knows what's up their sleeve. I would expect that it will be released long after the Star Wars title wave turns into a tsunami... er ripple, but we never know, they might release it to actually compete with Star Wars.

Rent some Kung-Fu, get a Ghostbuster
That's right ladies and gentlemen. Go to Blockbuster, Hollywood, or whatever video store you might happen to have because the Ghostbusters are back. Columbia Tri-Star has printed a trailer for the Ghostbusters re-release on copies of Jackie Chan's My Stunts (or My Life, the name escapes me right now). The trailer is listed as Coming Soon to a Theater Near You and is the original theatrical trailer, cool or what? In another surprise note, the 80s film La Bamba is also teasered for a re-release. La Bamba? Thanks to Chris J at our very own Sony store for the scoop!

Tim the Terror Dog is my new hero
Many of you GBHQ readers have written to me asking to comment on the validity of Tim the Terror Dog (a.k.a. Ray's Occult website)'s Ghostbusters 3 information on Bill Murray. I have confirmed with my source that indeed there was a meeting between the Ghostbusters alumni and they have decided the fate of the film, and the fate includes Bill Murray. Tim's source, the SNL crew member, well I still wonder how he got to talk to the host of the show, but it rings true. This is a valid statement- though I wouldn't use it as a direct Bill quote, it is a valid statement.

No Ghostbusters 3 for Sam L.
I told you to take the one scoop with a grain of salt. Samuel L. Jackson will NOT be in the new Ghostbusters film. But hey, don't look so glum, he'll be filling some big shoes in next year's remake of Shaft.

Three sizes of updates: wee, not so wee, and friggin' huge!
As promised, there's a ton of stuff on today's update. I'll start out with the anticipated multimedia from Bill Murray's appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend. It had to be one of the funniest episodes that I've seen in a long time, starting out with the Ladies Man, and ending with Bill in a fireman's suit. Check out the GBHQ Media Libraries page for the entire 3megs worth of media, as well however much disk space the Real Videos take up! Or you can just click here to go right to the Bill page!

Ghostbusters 3 news a go-go
It seems like after there is a calm in the Ghostbusters 3 news storm, I'm bombarded with a bunch of cool stuff. The first received today was a letter from Entertainment Weekly which contained their interview with Harold Ramis (and other thanks to GBHQ readers who were quick to send me the interview also), the second of which being an interview with Bill Murray in the weekend edition of Parade Magzine. The interview article can be seen here on the Ghostbusters HQ official mirror site, and the quote of note from the Parade article is that Bill will now be focusing on comedy films and sequels following his success in Rushmore.
The gist of the Entertainment Weekly article is that the Cinescape article is full of crap.
Also, Ray's Occult is reporting that Bill Murray spoke to a SNL cast member about Ghostbusters 3 during his stint and mentioned that a new crew is out and the old 'busting crew is in. Take this with a grain of salt because this "source" of his is a paradox on his own. But an interesting and optimistic scoop at that.

Ode to the Store...
I've just been informed that there are a few legal issues and red tape that must be taken care of before I am allowed to open the first ever digital Ghostbusters fan-club store. I assure you, the page is done- just need to get the suits to add a few quips to the disclaimer and we'll be set to go. :)
