A refreshing view on recent news
Yesterday's news from Ain't it Cool News wasn't exactly the best that Ghostheads have heard in a while, and while I'm working on another column to express my opinion, here's one GBHQ visitor's take (eventually it'll be archived into the columns too!):From: DrOctopus@deadfishmedia.com
To: netsolo@aol.comHi, long time reader, first time..writer? Anyway, This is mostly a "Hey, it's not the end of the world.." type of letter, because Hey, it's not the end of the world. We may very well be better off with out a Ghostbusters 3, with out it the Ghostbusters Mythos always will be the 4 originals.. What's that you say? Extreme..? Oh them, they don't count, they're not Aykroydian.
Back to what I was saying, the Mytho's remains untouched, for the most part. We know that at the end of GBII everything was right. For those that doubt me, they are being thanked by the city of New York, a "Loose Thread Sealer" that was on the 3rd draft for the First Ghostbusters Movie. A happy ending, leaving them still in business and operation. I don't want to see my heroes from childhood, balding, bloating, and making fools of themselves on screen. Well, the fools of themselves is always good but not the bloating or balding. Don't get me wrong, I love all the actors. They're past their physical prime, cept Ernie Hudson, who still looks like he did 11 years ago. I believe that the next logical step in the Mythos is a TV series, based perhaps after one or more probable after two. I'm pretty sure that.. MJS.. I can't remember his full name, or how to spell it for that matter.. He's currently writting "Rising Stars" for Image Comics, wrote RGB for a while? You all know who I'm talking about. He'd probably love to do a Ghostbusters Hour Long.. WB would eat it up, they love that stuff.
This is the most likely step in this situation. So here is what I say all of you Diehard letter writing folks should do-- Get someone, somewhere to pick up the idea as a Television series. NBC might actually be willing to do it as well, with their dwindling ratings.. perhaps even ABC.. Okay.. my rant is Finished. But remember, just cause Danny's closed the book on Ghostbusters 3 it doesn't mean he hasn't forgotten our boys in gray. They will be back, someday, in some form. Just wait. They'll be back. And they'll be better then Ever.
Sincerely, Roger L. Johnson
